• Child Development

    This degree is completed in collaboration with Grand Rapids Community College. A degree in child development is intended to give the graduate the skills needed to teach in child care centers or preschool programs. Graduates of this program are also prepared to serve as paraprofessionals in an elementary school setting. The Kuyper College registrar serves as the advisor to these students. Kuyper College grants the degree and determines the course of study.

    This degree program gives students a 30-credit major in Bible and theology, and 37 credits in Child Development at GRCC; classes include:

    • Methods in Pre-School Education 
    • Adult-Child Interaction 
    • Pre-School Management 
    • Young Children with Special Needs 
    • Assessment Tools in Child Development 
     
    This degree program gives students 15 credits of Bible and theology and 24 credits in Child Development to prepare graduates to direct and teach in a child-care setting. Graduates of the program are also prepared to serve as teacher aides in elementary schools. Classes include:
