• Education - Elementary

     In five years, students receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Kuyper College with a major in Bible and theology, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornerstone, and certification in elementary or secondary education. Together, the two colleges provide a program that will educate and prepare students to be highly qualified teachers in public, Christian or overseas schools by developing the knowledge, skills and Christian character to enable them to be servant leaders who are influencers in their world for Jesus Christ.

    Option I:

    A. Core Courses
    B. Choose one major or two minors, following the Planned Program for each major/minor.
    Majors: Integrated Science, Language Arts, Social Studies
    Minors: Integrated Science and Math, Integrated Science and Reading, Math and Reading, or Reading and Language Arts
    C. Professional Education Sequence Courses

    B. Comprehensive Major Courses
    C. Choose one major or one minor (student-centered specialty areas), following the Planned Program for the major/minors)
    Majors: Learning Disabilities, Spanish
    Minors: Early Childhood, Spanish, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
    D. Professional Education Sequence Courses

     Cornerstone University is a like-minded, accredited, Christian liberal-arts college just two miles south of Kuyper College. Students who intend to enroll in these programs will work closely with Kuyper College's registrar, who is the advisor to the education students, to navigate the program requirements.

    Education students are considered degree seeking students by Cornerstone University. As such, these students can access Cornerstone’s online student center to access their academic information. Students are also encouraged to utilize the education program advisor at Cornerstone to ensure smooth program progression. To seek admission to the program, students must complete the admissions process as detailed at www.cornerstone.edu. Upon admission, the students will be registered for their first semester of classes at Cornerstone by the Academic Office at Kuyper College. New consortium students are also required to complete an orientation at Cornerstone University prior to their first classes. Only students in good standing at Kuyper College will be allowed to begin a consortium program of study.
