Resources and Collection

The Library’s collection and diverse resources meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and other patrons as they pursue academic and personal growth. Emphasis is placed on acquiring resources that thoroughly support the curriculum, a Reformed worldview, and the mission of Kuyper College.

The Library collection contains approximately 55,000 volumes and over 200 print periodicals  to which Kuyper College subscribes. Library resources come in a variety of formats, including print, electronic, and audio-visual. Electronic databases include reference information, medical and legal materials, indexes, and full text of several hundred periodicals and newspapers. 

Students, faculty, staff and the general public all have open access to the Library catalog and may explore the collection and other Library resources online.

Users can access a listing of the print periodicals to which the Library subscribes, which include both popular publications and scholarly journals that relate to our curriculum. Electronic access to a vast array of periodicals is available to current students or to library patrons visiting campus.

Access to research databases for students is permitted by password authentication. These databases include: Michigan eLibrary, ProQuest Research Library, LexisNexis, Facts.com, Christian Periodical Index, ATLAReligion, Grolier Online, and more.

The Library gives students, faculty, and staff access to resources on a national scale through interlibrary loan programs with other institutions across the United States. The Zondervan Library is a member of the Michigan Library Consortium and the Association of Christian Librarians.

The Zondervan Collection

One of the special collections within the Zondervan Library is the Zondervan Collection. The Library is privileged to be a repository for all books published by the Zondervan Publishing House. The fact that Zondervan chose Kuyper College to serve as one of its two repositories is a testament to the College’s reputation and a tribute to its mission.

Consisting of approximately 5,000 volumes, the collection includes materials published by Zondervan since its beginnings in the1930s through today. These materials are restricted for use on the library premises. The strengths of the collection are the number of Bible reference materials, the youth ministry materials, and a variety of Bibles.

Curriculum Center

Within the library, a special collection is housed in the Curriculum Center room. This collection includes biblical and topical studies for children, young adults, and adults. There are also children’s Bibles, Bible storybooks, Sunday School materials, and arts-and-crafts projects (such as banners). The collection also includes games, ice-breakers for meetings, small-group activities, and drama resources. The Curriculum Center resources can provide ideas and lesson materials for anyone involved in church and para-church ministries.
