Fuller Theological Seminary’s Dr. Richard Mouw, launches Kuyper’s “Square Inch” Series
November 1, 2011
Fall 2011 marked the beginning of a series of lectures at Kuyper College entitled the “Square Inch Series.” Deriving its name from the well-known Abraham Kuyper quote, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!’ ” the series reflects the understanding of God’s sovereignty over all creation.
“The goal of the series,” said Dr. Branson Parler, professor at Kuyper College, “is so we can be better informed about God’s world and thus better know God in and through the works of his hands.”
The first lecture of the series was given by Dr. Richard Mouw, noted scholar and President of Fuller Theological Seminary.
Mouw spoke on his recently published book, “Abraham Kuyper: A Short and Personal Introduction.” At the core of his lecture was God’s love for multiplicity and his celebration of good in humanity, stressing the duty of Christians to align with God’s will and go out into the various spheres of life in his name.
Mouw’s lecture offered insight into the theology of Kuyper, giving students as well as staff, faculty and administration an opportunity to gain greater insights into the heart and thinking of Abraham Kuyper, for whom the school is named.
