Luke Morgan, Admission Counselor at Kuyper College, received the 2012 Rookie of the Year—Great Lakes Region—award from the NACCAP (North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals). The award recognizes Morgan “As an outstanding professional within the Great Lakes region of the NACCAP, who has made significant contributions to the profession, the NACCAP, and Kuyper College.” The Great Lakes region consists of schools such as Wheaton College, Calvin College, Cornerstone University, and Taylor University.
According to Sung Ae Reed, Kuyper’s director of admissions, Morgan, who joined the department one year ago, has engaged youth workers—pastors, volunteers, and others throughout the West Michigan area, to reach a key demographic influencers. “Because of his efforts and ability to build relationships, Kuyper has been a host site for major youth group events that have brought significant numbers of high school students to our campus,” said Reed. “He has also been instrumental in implementing our monthly youth pastor Lunch and Learn seminars that bring many area youth pastors to the College.”
Reed also said that Morgan goes above and beyond his job description, to at times, counsel students, giving them advice that, as she put it, “is always in their best interest.”
Morgan is about to finish his rookie year in the admissions department, “However,” added Reed, “Given his gifts and commitment to Christian higher education, I know he will be in this field for years to come, and will make greater contributions as his experience and knowledge continue to grow.”
