Kuyper Choir Tour
October 19, 2012
After finishing Kuyper College’s Fall Choir and Worship Tour, the words of Psalm 103:1 still linger in the minds and hearts of the students and faculty involved: “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.”
This was the heart of the tour– the praise and worship of God. Fittingly, the presentation was titled, “10,000 Reasons to Praise the Lord,” based on Myrin and Redman’s song “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)”.
Dr. Kai Ton Chau, Choir Director and Assistant Professor of Music Studies and Dr. Carol Hochhalter, Music and Worship Program Director, and Associate Professor of Worship Studies, along with 33 students participated in and brought joy to audiences during the three-state tour. The group’s first stop in Michigan was at Unity Christian High School’s chapel in Hudsonville. Later, they also performed at Green Acres Assisted Living in Lowell, and Christ Community Church in Grand Rapids.
The next day the choir brought the Lord’s power, very evident when worshipping in community to Handlon Correctional Facility in Ionia. That night, they sang the National Anthem prior to Calvin Christian High School’s football game.
After traveling to Chicago on Saturday for the start of their swing through Illinois, they performed at Grace Community Church in Oak Lawn. Sunday was a full day with morning performances at Grace Community Church and Orland Park CRC, and an evening performance at Faith CRC in Elmhurst.
The tour came to a close the following morning, with the choir singing at two high school chapels, one in Illinois and the other one in Indiana.
The Kuyper yearly tours offer the opportunity for people of all ages and different walks of life to worship God and celebrate the diversity of the body and the unity that can only be truly found, in Christ.
