Fall Retreat 2013
October 18, 2013
This year’s Fall Retreat continued the Kuyper tradition of getting together to enjoy one another’s company, have fun, and spend time with the Lord. Every year, Spiritual Life (SpiL) plans a retreat to provide students with a break from the stresses of school and encourage them in their spiritual walk. From Friday evening to Saturday afternoon the students enjoyed activities like ultimate Frisbee, swimming, football and a bon-fire on the beach at beautiful Camp Geneva, on the shores of Lake Michigan.
A game of life-sized Clue even kept the students guessing as they searched for clues around the camp to find “the culprit”. Students also came together for times of worship, and listened to a compelling message by Scott Evans, blogger, author and speaker who’s spent the last 10 years in youth ministry work. His Irish brogue kept the students’ attention as he spoke about unconventional ministry when it comes to sharing the Christian faith. Students left his sessions reminded that when talking about Christ to others, you will usually not encounter an ideal situation and the “real world” holds many new challenges. They also left the retreat having received much needed refreshment that will serve them well during the winter months.
