Faith and Deeds

Together with head coach Jeremiah Hamlet—former assistant coach to the Kuyper Cougars men’s basketball team, Kuyper alumnus Brandon Klomp is serving as assistant coach for the Grand Rapids Cyclones basketball team. A new expansion team in the 10 team Premier Basketball League (PBL), the Cyclones will be playing a short exhibition schedule through May, and will be a full PBL member with a full schedule starting January 15.

Klomp came to Kuyper and joined the Cougar basketball team as a freshman. Today, he uses basketball as a way to bring Christ to others. He serves with Sportspower, a Grand Rapids inner city sports ministry program founded by Hamlet and aimed at youth. The ministry provides after school programs and basketball clinics, boys’ high school basketball leagues and summer travel teams. Sharing a common love of basketball with young players allows Klomp to bring the gospel to them and to live before them as a positive Christian role model. Klomp said that he hopes to do the same with the Cyclones players.
