Iron Sharpens Iron

Originally an idea to bring youth ministry involved staff onto the Kuyper campus, it has evolved into something much bigger. Three years ago the Admissions department approached the Youth Ministry department with the idea of holding an ongoing event to introduce youth ministry workers to Kuyper. Kuyper now holds a Lunch-N-Learn every month for the benefit of local youth workers in the region. Youth pastors, workers of youth directed para-church organizations, and others involved with youth attend. They join current Kuyper youth ministry students over lunch to share with each other and to listen to a speaker. “This is a great opportunity for local Youth Ministry professionals to connect with, support, and uplift each other,” said Brian Telzerow, director of Kuyper’s youth ministry program. According to Telzerow, speakers will address a variety of topics but will usually challenge those in attendance to continue to plow ahead in the invaluable work for youth that they do.

In addition, the monthly gathering provides experienced leaders, students, and new graduates an opportunity for intergenerational mentoring. This serves as a reminder to all that they are not alone, but part of a bigger ministry, supported by the universal church.
