Campus Life is for Everyone
Kuyper College campus life is inclusive of residential, nonresidential, and nontraditional students. We have students from all over the world, from every walk of life and from many denominations. We gain insight by getting to know one another, by studying side by side, and by preparing for future work for the advancement of the kingdom. In short, there are social, spiritual, and academic opportunities for all students.
Kuyper College strives to make nonresidential and nontraditional students feel welcome. The term "nontraditional" refers to students who may have families, are over the age of 25, are going back to college to earn a degree to supplement their careers, or are pursuing new careers.
The College encourages nonresidential and nontraditional students to be part of the campus community by using campus facilities and by participating in activities. For example, nonresidential and nontraditional students are invited to use the lounges in Schaal and Timmer residence halls and the large lounge area in the Academic Building just outside of the Zondervan Library. In the DeWitt Student Center, you'll also find the Kuyper Bookstore and Koinonia Kafe, where you can relax with a latte and some music while watching the fish in the big tank. It's a good place to do some studying, enjoy good conversation, or just do some people-watching.
Another common area is the campus Rec Room, which features a big-screen TV and DISH satellite offerings, table tennis, pool tables, foosball, and other fun activities. All students are also encouraged to take advantage of the Boonstra Fitness Center. A small kitchen off of the dining hall is provided for all students, but it's especially handy for commuting students. There you'll find a stove, a refrigerator, microwaves, toasters, and vending machines.
Evening Classes
Kuyper College offers a variety of evening classes every semester to accommodate students who work full-time jobs during the day.
Connectivity through Technology
Nonresidential and nontraditional students are also invited to take advantage of campus technology by using the various computer labs, wireless campus and other technological resources. All Kuyper College e-mail accounts can be accessed wherever there's an Internet connection.
Please note: There are some restrictions placed on the use of Library computers. Please see the Computer Use Handbook or click here.
We Welcome All Denominations
While Kuyper College adheres to Reformed worldview, our students come from many diverse denominational backgrounds.
We Welcome People from All Cultures
Kuyper College is committed to being a genuinely Christ-centered, multi-culturally inclusive community. We work very hard to intentionally incorporate awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of other cultures and traditions into student life and into classroom instruction.
We're dedicated to finding appropriate ways of becoming more consciously aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the cultures and traditions that have shaped our institution in the past. It's our goal to find appropriate ways of recruiting, retaining, and graduating more students from numerous ethnic, denominational, and cultural backgrounds, as well as attracting more faculty, staff, and administrators from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
At Kuyper College, we're striving to develop an environment that allows diverse cultures and people to thrive.
