What's the Best Thing about Attending Kuyper College?
"The best thing about attending Kuyper College is the people-the staff, faculty, and of course, the students. The love of Christ and the excitement to work in his kingdom is so vivid, you can feel it. It's a blessing to be part of a community whose members pray for one another and have a common desire to serve Christ wholeheartedly."
-Sophomore Joni Dykema, Social Work
"The best thing about attending Kuyper College is the relationships that I've developed. Not only are the professors personable and willing to invest in our lives as students, but the friendships that I've made are amazing. God has blessed me through so many amazing Christian friends who are full of passion and have a strong desire to serve the Lord. Another great thing about Kuyper is that the focus of the student body is on ministry; many of the people who come to Kuyper come desiring to be trained to serve the Lord in an effective manner in a full-time ministry position."
-Senior Megan Gearhart, Pre-Seminary Studies
How Have You Grown Since You Began at Kuyper College?
"When I started at Kuyper College, I was incredibly shy and would hardly talk to anyone in my classes. The students-as well as the faculty and staff-are so polite and friendly that I've come out of my shell a bit and have really started to enjoy my time at Kuyper. I've made friends and now connect with classmates. It's been a real growing experience academically and socially."
-Freshman Lisa Dokter, Youth Ministry
"I've been at Kuyper for only one semester, and I've already grown. God is doing so much at this college; he continues to surprise me each day. I've grown just by going to class every day and having each professor ask us thought-provoking questions about our maker. It's not just school-it's a place to learn and grow in your relationship with God and others. That's what's important."
-Freshman Jodie Gazan, Youth Ministry
What Led You to Study at Kuyper College?
"I grew up attending a smaller private school, so naturally, Kuyper appealed to me. The campus is large enough so that you're stretched to get to know people, but it's small enough so that you don't ever feel overwhelmed or intimidated by its size. It's like one big family here at Kuyper, where it's not hard to get to know people quickly and make lasting relationships."
-Junior Jesse VanderKodde, Elementary Education
"I chose to attend Kuyper College because I knew that college would change me, and I wanted it to be a positive change. I chose an environment that nurtured my relationship with God, and a place that would stretch my mind and challenge me."
-Sophomore Laurel Ritzema, Social Work
How is Kuyper College Preparing You for Your Future?
"Every semester I gain more tools that I'm able to apply to my current situation within my ministry."
-Senior Rob DeJonge, Youth Ministry
"The education I received at Kuyper College has prepared me well to attend graduate school, where I'll work on a master's degree in theological studies. I feel equipped to enter a higher level of biblical education. I also know that the education I've received is more than just 'head knowledge'-I've been able to apply the classroom material to my everyday life."
-Senior Megan Gearhart, Pre-Seminary Studies
What's the Most Valuable Thing You've Learned at Kuyper College?
"In high school, there was always a definite barrier between my studies and my spiritual life. The most valuable thing I've learned at Kuyper College is that God can and will use the things I learn in class or through studying to change me into a person who is more Christlike."
-Sophomore Laurel Ritzema, Social Work
"I've learned that our ultimate goal in life is to serve and keep Christ first in every aspect of life. Throughout my four years here, I've been encouraged not only to go to classes and get good grades, but also to look at why I'm here. I'm at Kuyper College to learn how to serve in Christ's kingdom. It's easy to get caught up in the everyday tasks of life and school, but learning to keep Christ first and knowing that I can't do school and live life on my own strength is a valuable lesson that I'll take with me for the rest of my life."
-Senior Kristin Geurink, Social Work
Do You Have Any Advice for Prospective Students?
"My advice to prospective students: seek God and listen. He will get your attention one way or another, so choose to seek him first, and he will direct you in the ways you need to go. Kuyper is a great college and will allow you to grow in your walk with Christ, but first you must see if God wants you here. It's hard to believe he wouldn't! His plan is best. Blessings as you follow God in this exciting stage of your life!"
