TheKee – The Kuyper Education Experience

Kuyper College offers Bachelor and Associate degrees in a wide variety of academic majors. Together, these ministry and professional majors form one of seven foundational elements that make Kuyper a very unique college.  At Kuyper we call the sum of these elements… “TheKee” or The Kuyper Education Experience.

A major component of TheKee is our continuous and intentional program of Spiritual Formation.  It is part of every aspect of the College.  Through it, we help our students discern their spiritual gifts, mature in the understanding of whom they are in Christ and live a vibrant and fruitful life of ministry and service to others.

Other important elements of TheKee are our Field Education and Internship programs.  In partnership with nationally recognized ministries and organizations, these programs allow our students to apply the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired in the classroom to every-day situations. The programs, which are part of our standard curriculum, help students begin the transition from the theoretical to the practical before graduating into the world of ministry and service.

TheKee also offers our students learning and service opportunities in several locations throughout the world including Israel, China, Kenya, Japan, Switzerland, South Africa, Mexico and Romania among many others. This provides our students a broader global perspective of places and people beyond their limited borders.

An additional and critically important component of TheKee is the college’s continual emphasis on embracing and promoting diversity.  Our student body’s representation of more than 25 denominations allows them to live and interact with others of like faith yet, different doctrinal beliefs.  However, multi-denominational affiliation is only one part of the diversity equation. At Kuyper we also place a very high value on being a multi-cultural and ethnically diverse school.  At Kuyper, our emphasis on multi-denominational, ethnic and multi-cultural diversity provides our student body with a representation of God’s love for the whole world, as well as a visible and tangible example of how to live that love through our relationship with others.

The last two elements of TheKee are made up by our faculty and by our Cost-Reduction program. First, because of our low student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1, our students benefit from the highly personalized and customized instruction of a committed and nationally known faculty.  This low ratio also provides our professors and students the opportunity of establishing relationships as they get to know each other outside of the classroom.  The result is a life-enriching experience for both our professors and our students.

Secondly, one of the most important issues facing students is the cost of their education.  Our Cost-Reduction program ensures that our tuition and room and board fees are approximately 70% of comparable Christian colleges, while our average financial-aid package covers over 55% of those costs.  This significant difference in cost often spells the difference for our students between choosing a ministry or profession that aligns with their gifts and passion, versus one chosen because it will simply help pay for debt accumulated through student loans.
