In 2001, Evan was appointed to the position of director of field education and career development at Kuyper College. Previously, he had served as minister of evangelism; director of youth, education and evangelism; pastor; and minister of congregational life and outreach in four different Christian Reformed churches. He currently supervises the students' field education (out of classroom learning experiences), assists students in their career development, and teaches the first-year class, Gateway to Excellence. In his position, Evan seeks to help students come to a better understanding of who they are as an image-bearer of God. With that understanding, he hopes to assist students in responding to God's unique call on their life in order to serve God and bring his kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
"Serving four congregations in a variety of roles has provided me with a wide range of ministry experience and convinced me of the necessity for Kuyper College students to be well-trained and well-prepared. The challenges which Christian leaders face in today's world necessitates that we should be as prepared and trained as possible. I look forward to helping future leaders be as well-equipped as they can be for the important work of serving Christ's church and his world."
Evan has been married to Doris since 1978. With God's help, they have raised two daughters. Together they enjoy camping, golfing and softball. They remain active in their local church serving as God calls them to use their gifts. Evan especially enjoys making little children feel at home wherever he meets them.
