Jessica MaddoxProfessor Maddox began teaching Christian Doctrine I and II at Kuyper College as an adjunct instructor in 2000.  She joined the faculty in 2004 as assistant professor of theological studies and is currently in the process of completing her Ph.D.  Professor Maddox teaches Introduction to Philosophy and a variety of courses for the Bible and theology department, including Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, Creeds and Confessions, Hebrews and the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit.  She has also taught theology courses at Calvin Theological Seminary and Western Theological Seminary.

"The classroom is a unique time of intellectual and character formation-an opportunity to explore and engage ideas.  In whatever course I teach, I am not only concerned that students learn the content of a subject, but that they learn to think critically about that content and to engage other ideas and perspectives thoughtfully and graciously.    Some of my greatest joys in teaching are when I hear students continuing to discuss a topic that was introduced in class or when a student comes to my office to raise a question or share an insight sparked by a reading assignment."

Professor Maddox and her husband are expecting their first child in the fall.  In addition to the pleasure she has in teaching, she enjoys being outdoors, gardening, hiking, playing guitar and writing new music to the words of old hymns.
