Description

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Directs all facets of the operations of the Registrar's Office including student registration and records, development of transcripts and class schedules, veteran services, graduation audits, College catalog and other related functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Directs the daily operations of the Registrar's Office; serves as an internal consultant and implements academic policies; reviews policy exception requests.

2. Recommends and participates in the development and implementation of college policies and procedures regarding student registration, records, class schedules, graduation requirements, etc.

3. Maintains and upgrades the College’s academic information infrastructures including academic records archives, on-line student database, World Wide Web and other electronic databases and information systems.

4. Establishes and implements short- and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.

5. Develops and publishes major College information documents including, but not limited to, College catalog and registration information.

6. Responsible for informing students, staff, and community of the current Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA) including the College’s procedures relating to its compliance. Develop, maintain, and deliver information, both written and orally, related to proper adherence to FERPA.

7. Oversees the overall operations of unit(s) reporting to this position and provides visionary leadership that continually improves services to students.

8. Represents the College to various institutional areas as well as externally to governmental agencies, students and their parents, and/or the general public. Serves as an advocate for Student and Educational Services Division. 

 

 

Qualifications

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in student services, educational administration or a related area.
Three years of experience in Student Services, or five years in a related area. Proven record of successful supervisory or leadership experience.
Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology to deliver services of the Registrar’s Office.
A demonstrated positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change.
Ability to collaborate effectively with college departments and cross-functional teams.
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including a proven record in working successfully with diverse populations.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES CONSIDERED:

Experience working in a community college.
Demonstrated expertise in the use and management of a student database system such as Datatel.
