Inspiring Leaders Series Kicks Off with Mr. Nate VanderStelt

February 7, 2017

Kuyper College hosted the Inspiring Leaders Luncheon series for the first time this semester on Wednesday, January 25.

The luncheon featured Former Kuyper staff member Nate Vanderstelt. He now serves as a senior consultant at the Timothy group, an organization that specializes in helping Christian non-profit organizations to raise funds. Prior to his present position, Vanderstelt was Development Director at the Potter's House, before that he held the same position at Calvin Theological Seminary.

"Vanderstelt said the Timothy Group uses as its motto the words in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Vanderstelt encouraged the students to think in unusual ways, even if it puts them outside their comfort zone. He also stressed the need to really connect with people and care about them instead of staying inside what is known as the "Bubble."

He left those in attendance with a poem:

“Listen, really listen
Lead, really lead
Clarify, really clarify
Celebrate, really celebrate.”

Kuyper will host Ruth Olsson and Justin Breene during the next two luncheons this semester. Please contact Professor Marc Andreas for more information.
