Allen Durham Named Assistant Athletic Director
Allen Durham, Kuyper College’s men’s basketball coach, is adding a new title to his already impressive résumé, becoming the new assistant athletic director, effective July 1.
A Wyoming, Michigan, native who attended Wyoming Park High School, Durham is no stranger to West Michigan hoops nor to the program he now leads. He played three seasons at Grace Christian under then-coach Gary Bailey, the same Gary Bailey who recently retired after three seasons as Kuyper’s head coach, and Durham helped lead his alma mater to national championships, while also earning All-American honors and various other accolades.
Since joining the Kuyper community as an assistant coach during the 2025-26 campaign, Durham has made a strong early impression, bringing energy, a commitment to student-athlete development, and a vision that aligns well with where Kuyper Athletics is headed.
“We’re excited to have Allen take on this expanded role,” said Kuyper Athletic Director Tyler Whitcomb. “His experience as a professional athlete, business owner, coach, and mentor provides tremendous value to our student athletes and athletic department. He understands the importance of building relationships, creating memorable experiences, and developing programs that positively impact our community. Most importantly, he shares the vision and values that make Kuyper College unique.”
In his new role, Durham will lead efforts in athletic development, fan engagement, community partnerships, fundraising, and strategic growth for the department.

Whitcomb said that Durham brings a rare combination of on-court excellence and off-court business experience to his work at Kuyper.
After his collegiate career, Durham went on to play professionally for more than a decade in both North America and overseas. Indeed, in the Philippine Basketball Association, he was named Best Import three times. Before joining Kuyper’s staff, Durham served as an assistant coach at Davenport University, adding college coaching experience to an already well-rounded background.
Off the court, Durham founded the Grand Rapids Danger professional basketball organization, where he built a sports brand from the ground up, developing sponsorships, growing fan engagement, and forging partnerships throughout the West Michigan business community.
He said he is excited to add assistant athletic director duties to his Kuyper portfolio.
“What I love to do is build,” he said. “I believe that Kuyper athletics has what it takes to thrive at this level, and I am looking forward to having a hand not just in men’s basketball but all of our sports. When I was first approached by Coach (Gary Bailey) about getting involved here, after some prayer, I felt like Kuyper is where I need to be.”
