Kuyper College Athletics
Kuyper College recently announced that the College is joining the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA), starting competition in the fall of 2023. As part of this announcement, Kuyper College will be offering several men’s and women’s sports programs and begin recruiting student-athletes starting the fall of 2022.
The Athletic Department will be led by Gary Bailey, an NCCAA Hall of Fame member, who comes to Kuyper from Grace Christian University. There, as Athletic Director and men’s head basketball coach, his teams participated in 15 NCCAA Division II Basketball Championships while winning six national titles.
The athletic teams that have been identified include Men’s Basketball (Varsity and JV) as well as Women’s Varsity Basketball. Additional sports will be announced shortly.
The College is also developing a full athletics website portal for students, fans, and recruits to follow the Kuyper College Cougars with news, scores, schedules, and other sports information. The College is also setting up social media accounts for each sport and the athletics program as a whole.

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR / MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH
Gary Bailey, an NCCAA Hall of Fame member, comes to Kuyper from Grace Christian University. There, as Athletic Director and men’s head basketball coach, his teams participated in 15 NCCAA Division II Basketball Championships while winning six national titles.
Bailey is widely known as someone dedicated to building and maintaining a vibrant Christian culture in athletics In a statement in Gary’s introduction as an NCCAA Hall of Fame inductee speaks to his philosophy of education. It says, ‘Gary is truly dedicated to training student-athletes of integrity for life after college.’
“While many program details are in the works, I am delighted to be joining Kuyper as their new athletic director. I am eagerly looking forward to continuing the tradition of bringing a Christian worldview to every area and program of Kuyper, including athletics,” said Bailey. “I want to thank President Harris and Tim Detwiler for their enthusiasm and support in initiating a new era of athletics at Kuyper College.”
