Ora et Labora - Hannah McHugh
On October 20th, Kuyper College had the privilege of welcoming Hannah McHugh as part of Ora et Labora, the weekly time where speakers share about the work they are doing and how their faith impacts that work. Hannah is a 2017 Kuyper graduate who majored in Business Leadership, and now works for Navigator Truck Insurance Agency, which seeks to serve others and fund Gospel-centered ministries through their business endeavors.
Hannah shared her story of taking a leap of faith and following God’s direction, even when it was difficult to trust in His guidance. Just as she was about to graduate from Kuyper, Hannah realized that the business with which she thought she would be building her career did not align with her Christian values and worldview. “I remember thinking about whether I just made the biggest mistake of my life,” she recalled.
Though it felt at first that God was absent, Hannah eventually discovered that He had been leading her all along. She soon found a job with Navigator which, she was delighted to find, was an openly Christian company. “At the core of it, it’s the mission of Jesus Christ that we’re after,” she said.
Since following God’s direction to Navigator, Hannah’s interactions with coworkers and customers have allowed her to share her faith in both overt and subtle ways. Her own faith has also been impacted in a positive way. This work, she says, “… encourages me to see people as made in the image of God in all situations, even when it’s difficult.”
