YWAM West Michigan Students Share the Gospel in the Middle East
Youth With a Mission (YWAM) West Michigan, which opened in 2020 and began partnering with Kuyper College in 2023, recently saw its first group of students travel overseas to share the Gospel in the Middle East.
“At the end of the day, our goal is always to make God known. We’re looking forward to seeing how God will use this group of students to make that happen,” said a YWAM representative as the group prepared to depart.
The journey is the second segment of YWAM’s Discipleship Training School (DTS) and is known as the Outreach Phase. During this chapter of their training, YWAM students share the good news of Jesus Christ cross-culturally while serving alongside local believers, ministries, and long-term missionaries in many locations around the world.
Before they can begin their outreach, however, students must first complete the Lecture Phase of their training. Here, they learn from speakers on topics foundational to the Christian faith while engaging in worship, intercession, Bible study, and other forms of outreach preparation.
“During their Middle East travels, our students will minister to hurting people hungry for the Gospel,” the YWAM representative added. “Our goal is to bring the hope of Jesus to an area that has seen a lot of conflict in the past.”
Sharing the Gospel has been part of Kuyper’s DNA since its beginning in 1939, and YWAM’s passion for evangelism made the partnership a natural choice.
As part of this relationship, the YWAM base is housed on the Kuyper campus. Students live there during the lecture phase of DTS and can transfer their credits into several Kuyper degree programs after completion.
YWAM believes that discipling, training, and commissioning these young people is essential because their available time, energy, and passion make them uniquely positioned to make a difference for the Gospel. All they need is training and a roadmap to make that possible.
In YWAM’s words: “When you choose to do a DTS, you are joining the worldwide movement to make Jesus known in all nations of the world.”
