Dr. Tim Detwiler

Dr. Detwiler is the Academic Dean at Kuyper College and holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. He serves as an educational consultant and is an AQIP and Open Pathways peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. He has presented papers and participated in panel discussions nationally in the areas of assessment, curriculum development, and institutional research. Additionally, Tim is a seventh-level certified member of the Michigan Association of School Boards and has served on local, county, and state boards of education.

Tim is married to Sally and they have three children Katy, Kyle, and Kurt. He enjoys reading, listening to all styles of music, playing golf, and bicycling. As part of cycling, he is a member of the Kent County Sherriff Department’s White Pines Trail volunteer patrol. His dream of being a golf ranger occurred as he is involved with the Grand Rapids Women’s Golf Association.
