As a Kuyper student, Jon Versluis loved the consistent student-focus of the College’s faculty and staff.
They were there for you to succeed,” he recalled with a smile. “I always felt that everyone on campus was looking after you.”
Now, as Kuyer’s first-ever Financial Aid Specialist, Versluis, a 2017 Kuyper graduate, will be able to give back to the campus that he said gave him so much.
“My door is always open to anyone and everyone,” he said. “I am very excited to be here and help in any way I can.”
Agnes Russell, Kuyper’s Director of Financial Aid said Versluis’ position was created to fill a significant need, especially because of an increased number of federal and state reporting requirement but also because of Kuyper’s growing enrollment numbers.
“Jon will be available to students and will serve as their first contact,” she noted.
She added that she is excited to welcome him back to his alma mater as an employee, an enthusiasm Versluis certainly shares.
“Kuyper was awesome for me when I was going here for youth ministry,” he said. “I felt that through this new position, I could give back to Kuyper, and it’s exciting to think about helping the next generation of students to be able to become Kuyper graduates.”
A Rockford, Mich., native, Versluis said he is eager to meet people at different points on their life journey and to walk with them as they work to accomplish their goals.
“I look forward to getting to know current and prospective students, to see what they are passionate about and where God is leading them,” he said. “I look forward to being a part of their journey, helping them tackle the financial aid side of things and easing the tension or nervousness or anxiousness that might come with this.”
Versluis comes to Kuyper having worked at Carvana and Corewell Health since graduating from the College. He has built experience and expertise in Google Analytics, data analysis and visualization, database relationships and more since graduating.
