How Zippia Determined the Best Social Work Schools in Michigan
When it came to identifying the best Social Work schools, Zippia approached the ranking in a scientific way—looking at data on how schools perform and comparing them to one another. They analyzed data from the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. They also analyzed data from The U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard (ED.gov) designed to help students and families compare how well individual postsecondary institutions are preparing their students to be successful. The analyzed data reported on school’s academics, costs, student body, financial aid, completion of degree, earnings, debt after graduation and loan repayment rates.

Once the data was gathered, Zippia ranked all schools in Michigan offering a Social Work program for each of the criteria above with ‘1’ being the best in any given criteria.
Next, they averaged the ranks for each school to create a “Social Work Quality Index,” which yielded the Top 10 Social Work Programs in Michigan for 2018.
In a different national ranking report by College Human ServicesEDU.org, Kuyper’s Social Work program was ranked as the most affordable of all private colleges in Michigan.
