October’s Inspiring Leaders with Joyce Borger

October 23, 2015

In October, Kuyper continued its Inspiring Leaders Luncheon series designed to inspire students and staff through the testimony of Christian community and business leaders. The October luncheon featured Rev. Joyce Borger, who serves as a leader in her dual-role of Director of Worship Ministries and Editor of Reformed Worship for the CRCNA (Christian Reformed Church of North America).

Some 30 students and other members of the Kuyper community attended her inspiring talk on the leadership lessons she learned during her 12 years with the CRCNA—of special note was her leadership work in the Red Hymnal Project. Some of the lessons she emphasized for the growing leaders in her audience included humility, community with those you lead, praying for wisdom, and taking a “the first shall be last” approach to leadership—not striving for recognition but following after the Holy Spirit’s leading.

The next luncheon will take place on November 17 from 12:25-12:50 pm in Kuyper College’s West Dining Hall. Carlos Hidalgo, President and Founder of Hidalgo & DeVries, Inc., will be the featured speaker.
