The Kuyper Service Award: Honoring the Academic Office and Library
This month, Kuyper recognizes the Administrative Faculty and Staff as we continue to honor the recipients of the Kuyper College Service Award. Due to the extraordinary efforts made and challenges faced by everyone during 2020 and the outset of COVID-19, the decision was made to present this award to the entire faculty and staff.
Among the Administrative Faculty and Staff are many talented and dedicated individuals who have decades of experience across a wide variety of disciplines. The community here at Kuyper College deeply values the work they do, whether that is by organizing the academic catalogue, keeping the library stocked with up-to-date resources, managing online learning, or one of many other essential functions. Much of this goes unseen, but it is no less valued.
Recipients of the Service Award are chosen for exhibiting the spirit and work of the College’s mission statement, and the Administrative Faculty and Staff exemplify this in many ways. Michelle Norquist, Director of Library Services, said, “I love working at Kuyper College because I know I am intentionally called to be here. I love and appreciate that my interactions in the library allow for personal relationships that not only involve serving, instruction, teaching and learning but also allow for times of prayer, encouragement, listening and mentoring.”
Though their roles and responsibilities differ, the Administrative Faculty and Staff share a common goal: cultivating a community where students can grow in both faith and knowledge. As Dr. Tim Detwiler said, “I wake every morning praising God for the opportunity to join with others in providing an educational community where students can study, learn about faith and themselves, and, out of which, they can flourish in life.”
